This destroys most of his weapons except for the Gravity Gun, instead causing the field to malfunction and overcharge it. The Gravity Gun becomes infused with, making it much more powerful and capable of picking up and throwing organic beings. The HEV suit is also effected by the dark energy, causing its shielding to become twice as strong and allowing it to heal Gordon directly from energy chargers.

Making use of this newly-acquired weapon and defense, Gordon fights his way through the Citadel against large numbers of Combine soldier as attempts in increasing desperation to convince Gordon to surrender. Gordon is forced to enter another Stalker pod and is quickly discovered on camera, transferring him to the top of the Citadel directly to Breen's office. Alyx saying goodbye to her father after Breen's escape.The final chapter details the climactic confrontation between, and the leaders of the.After being transported to Dr. Breen's office, Gordon is reunited with and who are both being kept captive in Stalker pods as well. Breen tries once again to gain the allegiance of Eli, but after being refused, he prepares to send Gordon, Alyx, and Eli through a portal to the. Breen also hints at the G-Man's influence, stating that Gordon's 'contract was open to the highest bidder.' Mossman protests, but after being brushed off by Breen, decides to intervene, releasing Gordon, Alyx, and Eli.

Breen attempts to escape, fleeing to the Dark Energy Reactor at the very top of the Citadel to be transported himself to the Combine Overworld. Gordon gives chase, fighting his way through Combine soldiers along the way. Just as the portal to the Overworld opens, Gordon attacks the reactor using his Dark Energy-infused Gravity Gun, causing the reactor to fail and go critical. Just as the reactor explodes, freezes time and addresses Gordon.

The G-Man congratulates him on his success, stating that he has received 'interesting offers' for Gordon's services. Gordon is put back into stasis by the G-Man who then leaves through a door of light with the final words: 'In the meantime, this is where I get off.' The fates of Breen, Eli, Mossman, and Alyx is left unknown at the ending of the game, but Eli, Mossman, and Alyx's fates are revealed in the. Breen's fate still remains unrevealed, however.

Narrative Like in its predecessors, Gordon never speaks and the player views the action through his eyes only throughout the entirety of Half-Life 2. There are no cutscenes, nor any discontinuities or jumps in time from the player's point of view. Due to the lack of cutscenes, the player never directly sees what happens in Gordon's absence. Some have criticized these design decisions as narrative holdovers from, that effectively limit how much of the backstory is explained, however many have also highly praised the game's method of storytelling.The ending of Half-Life 2 is also very similar to that of the original: after completing a difficult task against seemingly impossible odds, Gordon is extracted from reality by the G-Man. Clear out the ones nearby but leave the more distant barnacles intact.A zombie wave is headed your way and the barnacles do a great job of thinning out the herd. Shotgun ammo and a medkit are found in the hole in the wall ahead/left.Exit to this stairwell and ascend the stairs.Emerge to witness a zombine/antlion battle. Note the shotgun ammo on the ground.

Start by using your gravity gun's right trigger to push this red car into the pit directly ahead.Ascend this ramp to the next level.Smash the crate blocking the doorway to get behind the green car. Push it over the ledge to the lower level.Note that Alyx is vulnerable during all this. She'll tell you to knock the antlions over with your Gravity Gun so she can get a better shot. Try to keep her safe while you work at moving the cars around.Here's the green car stopping up the second burrow.The third car is that white car behind the locked gate on the middle level.

To reach it you'll need to ascend the ramp on the right to the third level.Walk the plank to reach the broken gate ahead.Drop over the ledge to reach the white car. Turn the crank to open the gate then push the car downstairs with your Gravity Gun.

Note the two medkits and suit energy on the floor behind the gate.Descend the stairs all the way to the bottom to find this zombie-guarded supply crate.Backtrack up the stairs a bit to this exit.Emerge in this flooded sub basement, packed with zombines. Grab some shotgun ammo then continue through the gap in the fence behind this ill-fated foe.Battle a large zombie/zombine contingent to this stairway and the doorway beyond.Turn left to find a malfunctioning elevator. This is your way out - if you can fend of the zombie horde once you get the power working.Turn right from the lift then follow the power line along the left wall to this corner door.

A body drops from the ceiling. Use your Gravity Gun to pull the plank off the door then ready your shotgun before opening it.Inside is a solitary zombine, a flair, a supply crate, and.the power box for the elevator. Don't activate the panel yet, though. Doing so not only calls the elevator, but also triggers a massive zombie attack.Instead, start gathering supplies and stockpiling them near the elevator. Don't worry about being too neat - a single explosion will scatter your supplies about.

Everything is about to go kablooey in this shot.Don't miss the supplies in this cage. You can remove items by lifting them over the gap in the fence near the ceiling.Work fast, because each time your flashlight goes out a zombie or two will sneak up on you and Alyx.When you're ready, return to the panel and throw the switch to send the elevator on its way. A massive zombie attack is triggered, including zombines and these fast zombies.Stay near your cache of supplies then jump into the lift as soon as it arrives.
